Megan Cummings started working at The Nurse Lawyer her first year in law school and is now a partner in the firm. She handles all types of personal injury cases, including car accident cases, commercial truck accident cases, general negligence actions, defective products cases, and wrongful death.
Megan has wanted to be an attorney since her childhood and has a passion for representing clients by helping them get the best possible outcome. Megan was born and raised in a small town in Illinois, and after high school, came to Florida to attend the University of Tampa, where she majored in criminology. and graduated with honors.
After college Megan attended law school at Stetson University College of Law. While there, Megan received several awards for outstanding grades, including the Whele Award for highest grade in trial advocacy, and the Doyle award for the top grade in negotiation and mediation, among others.
Aside from work in the classroom Megan also gained experience by participating in several internships including: the Federal Judicial Internship, where she interned under Judge Porcelli; the In-House Counsel internship, where she worked under corporate law attorneys at Bankers Financial Corporation; and the Juvenile Justice Initiative Internship, where she assisted in defending juveniles in the criminal justice system. Megan graduated cum laude from Stetson in 2014.
Megan met Maryann during her first year of law school when she reached out to her to fulfill pro bono hours. During her time as a law clerk throughout law school, she assisted Maryann with the litigation of all types of personal injury cases. It was then that she realized the great satisfaction that comes from helping the injured fight against insurance companies. Megan passed the bar exam right after graduation and started as an attorney at The Nurse Lawyer, P.A. immediately thereafter.
Since passing the bar, Megan has successfully handled thousands of personal injury cases and obtained numerous six and seven figure verdicts and settlements. She has also been successful in forcing insurance companies to pay excess money over the policy limits when they have failed to pay what is fair. Megan has become highly skilled at striking the opposing counsel’s experts in litigation to gain the top benefit for her client at trial, and works day and night to pursue justice for her clients.
Megan Cummings is licensed to practice law in Florida in both state and federal courts and is an active member of several professional legal associations.
