Jelena Miokovic was born in former Yugoslavia and relocated to the United States in 1997 with her parents as refugees. She is a fluent speaker in Serbian, Bosnian, and Croatian. At the young age of 20, Jelena graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology degree from the University of South Florida (go Bulls!). During her undergraduate studies, Jelena volunteered at The Thirteenth Judicial Circuit’s Juvenile Diversion Program (known as Teen Court), which sparked a greater interest in her to pursue a legal career. During her volunteer work at Teen Court, she would regularly participate as a prosecutor, arguing cases on behalf of the State against juvenile delinquents. From the moment she prosecuted her first case at Teen Court, she instantly knew that she was destined to go to law school and become a trial attorney. Graduating from one of the most diverse law schools in the country, Jelena earned her Juris Doctor degree from Florida A&M University College of Law (go Rattlers!). Jelena passed the Florida bar exam right after graduation and started practicing as a personal injury attorney immediately thereafter. Jelena has been a practicing attorney since 2019 and has been in the personal injury industry since 2014.
Prior to joining The Nurse Lawyer, Jelena worked at another personal injury law firm that she has been at since the start of her career, mostly handling pre-litigation cases. While at her prior firm, Jelena had the opportunity of working with Maryann as co-counsels and learned her way of litigating and taking the cases to trial against the insurance companies when they are refusing to settle. Maryann’s work ethic and trial expertise inspired Jelena to join The Nurse Lawyer to become a strong litigator and continue to dominate the insurance companies. Jelena’s primary areas of practice are automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, pedestrian accidents, slip and fall accidents, dog bites, and wrongful death cases. Jelena is passionate and devoted to representing individuals and their families that have been injured and suffered losses in these types of accidents.
Jelena chose to practice personal injury and help accident victims because they are one of the most vulnerable and traumatic positions a person could find themselves in, and the process can be even more frightening dealing with the insurance companies alone without legal representation. Jelena aspires to serve not only as an advocate for her clients but also as a counselor, educator, and protector to aggressively fight insurance companies to achieve the justice and fair recovery that her clients deserve.
